  1. but he hasnt proven that school vs normal changes to the brain is
responsible for decrease in divergent thinking. we know from neuroscience
there are many differences to the brain structure and its coding mechanism
    from age 3 to 7

  2. What a garbage video and waste of time. When someone is able to turn out
kids with truly superior minds, then I’ll be impressed. Until then, this
is just fuzzy feel-good words with little practical application.

  3. But this one still my favs. Countries are all fucked up but it’s funny cz
those incharge went to Harvard, Princeton earned PHD’s & Masters and yet
none of them can get things right… Smart ppl can’t be measure with this
    educational system period!.

  4. I think this can be summed up by this: In group projects i have in my
engineering and science degree, the majority of the time half my group is
utterly useless. And these are people who are judged to be in the top 15%
for science and the top 10% (i think it’s actually a bit smaller like 8%)
for engineering, yet people are still utterly useless. So yes i totally
    agree with this.

  5. Another brilliant and challenging discourse with Sir Ken Robinson via +The
RSA. I wonder those of us who are church leaders and seminary faculty learn
and implement based on these concepts? #learning #Formation #education .

What thoughts and suggestions do you have?

  6. BLA BLA BLA just trying to feed us the same shit in sophisticated words
and drawing skills, i can shorten his video by few words :” combine
    creativity with culture and skills ” . Who’s the smart one now :}

  7. Divergent Thinking (7:30) – creative thinking that may follow many lines of
thought and tends to generate new and original solutions to problems

  8. This is the real answer we need to be studying. I am convinced after 35
plus years of teaching that we have missed the mark. Please share this.

  9. Attended to PTA yesterday, to learn how it works and how I could play some
community part as my daughter is a student there. The new PTA chair
recognized me from my TEDxKL talk, and nominated me. Now I’m on the PTA
    Committee.

Having gotten my feet wet in local governance and urban planning, I really
have no idea where to start when it comes to improving local education in
our schools. I do know from experience that when I learn about what needs
to be done to improve things, it will be daunting.

I did start a Malaysian Education G+ community a while back, but have not
had time to update info on local education. If you have a kid in *public*school, a teacher or interested in updates related to this, do join to get
updates. These days, I try to avoid posting community specific posts on my
own stream, which are not of personal or general interest.

  10. Education is not at all seeking a paper certificate and monetizing it
later. Ken Robinson is an educationist and he explains all about creative
    minds and educational features ..

  11. Just watched this again. Should be required viewing for everyone involved
    in education.

“Right beneath the surface are the seeds of possibility waiting for the
right conditions…” – Sir Ken Robinson

“You take a school… you change the conditions, give people a different
sense of possibility, a different set of expectations, a broader range of
opportunities, you cherish and value the relationships between teachers and
learners, you offer people the discretion to be creative… and… schools
that were once bereft spring to life.” – Sir Ken Robinson

  12. +Terry Leigh Britton thank you for the share. I love TED talks regardless
the topic. But you are correct, the talk is infectious.

  13. My Great Friends , As it may be , 2014 is going to be a great year !
I am a great believer , not really ! I know that we are moving towards
great happenings ! So , in case , you have not heard of this great man ,
you might as well . Ken Robinson is someone worth listening to ! Education
is the only real stuff worth understanding ! So , let me share this video
with you . Thank you . Dr Dhali /Amar .

  14. I totally resonate with the ideas Sir Ken Robinson puts forth in this
    fantastic TED talk.
“With organic systems, if the conditions are right, life is inevitable…”

  15. If you are a parent, teacher, or school administrator you owe it to
yourself to watch this. America’s education system needs to be demolished
and overhauled in a BIG way! 19 minutes and 12 seconds of TRUTH!

  16. The trouble is that even if you encourage the artists and the writers once
they get out of school they may still have trouble finding work. Really,
society as a whole needs to change to properly embrace people.

  17. Great TED Talk by Sir Ken Robinson about the education systems and how
    schools kill creativity. #education #school #creativity
