What was the book you got?...Feed Source: CraftyVixens.tribe.net New Christmas craft ( new to me) I'll put up a pic - I bought some clear glass christmas ornaments in boxes of 6 @ the $ store I primed them dull gray w/ spray primer. Then I sprayed then w/white stone finish spray paint,( the gray shows thru a little). Whe really dry I hand painted with blu so they look like salt glazed pottery. Now I just have to seal then w /some kind of sealer. If you didn't want to hand paint you could always stencil. Now I'd like to try some cutouts like this. Anyone remember a recipe for something called (I think ) SALT DOUGH ? I think you bake it low for awhile and it lasts forever. Any ideAs??... Re: Paper mache - Kathryn you're a HOOT. The boogers really got me. Wanna be my friend??... Re: Paper mache - I used to work for a puppet theatre, and we did a lot of paper mache. The education director decided to try her hand at making a pinata for her son's birthday, and using this recipe, doing three coats, actually had to saw the thing open like Steve Martin on Parenthood.
1. Golden Harvest Wheat Paste (I find it at True Value hardware store. It's not expensive and it goes a long way)
2. A Bowl with Water as Warm as you can get it (Hot is good, too)
3. A Fork or a Whisk
4. Ripped Strips of Paper (It's very important that all the edges are ripped and not cut. Scissors snip the fibers of the paper all the same length. Ripping feathers the fibers, giving the glue way more surface area to work on with the edges. Strips of cut paper unravel. Ripped paper holds fast.)
5. Something to paper mache around (we carve things out of foam, especially hard pink insulation foam-not the fiberglass soft stuff- from Home Depot. It keeps a nice smooth edge as you're carving. Styrofoam's a lit... This April and May I plan to be back in Uganda, and so I'm gathering a crew to tour teaching circus skills, green building and gardening.
I'm good with a hoop and can walk a slackline. I love building with bamboo. We'll create the Temple of Lost and Found on the slopes of Mt. Elgon. Think of it as the creative-comfort vibe of a Burning Man camp, crossed with the nature and good food of a rainbow gathering, and lots of kids--very sweet kids, who need lots of love, because their folks died in landslides. This is in connection with a village of 2000 people called Bunabumali, in Uganda, on the border of Kenya.

Our Mission is to host a History making event. It is our goal to bring thousands of Pyrates to New Orleans for nine days and nights of celebrating the Spirit of Pyracy in the New Orleans French Quarter and surrounding areas. It comes in several colours and is usually 100% cotton and it comes in different weights, usually medium to heavy. Its not checkerd but it is striped! I find it to be pretty durable.... That's what I did, and it worked quite nicely. Of course, right after I adjusted the pattern and made a new dress, I got a book that explains the modification in depth. Oh well .... Re: I'm looking for this fabric... - Cat, do you have any Joanne Fabric stores out by you? I'm not sure if they have it - it is really cute - but maybe if they don't, they could order it for you. Sometimes stores have a little more power than us consumers. It would be worth a try to see if any store near you could order it.... She buys the scrap pcs left over at the fabric stores and thrift shops and makes tons of them. Low cost and easy to make.
