*How important is it to have keywords in a domain name*?
*The keyword v branded domain name debate*.
I have been pondering this question for a while as I am thinking of
changing the domain name of my coolkidsstoriesdotcom site.
This 3 minute video from Google’s Matt Cutts explains the affect on ranking.
He is recommending *branding above keyword*
He uses Digg/Reddit/Google etc. as examples of memorable brand names. He
says Google have adjusted the algorithm to offset unfair ranking advantages
to keyworded domains. Mmm…

I’d love to see an update to this with further explanation around how much
weight keywords have in the domain.

*Do you remember this video with Matt Cutts [March 2011]?*
This is when +Google first mentioned their intention to change the way they
rank Exact Match Domains.
It took them more than a year to launch the EMD update.
How important is it to have keywords in a domain name?
“We have looked at the rankings and weights that we give to #keyworddomains
and some people have complained that we’re giving a little too much weight
for keywords in domains. And so we have been thinking about adjusting that
mix a little bit and sort of turning the knob down within the algorithm so
that given two different domains, it wouldn’t necessarily help you as much
to have a domain with a bunch of keywords in it.” #seo

Keywords in a domain always help but keep it short and sweet. ;)
The Power of using Keyword in domain has been explained to someone looking
to take a decision what kind of domain to go for. To get detailed
information, take a look at the video⇨http://ow.ly/ktYUn
Thanks for the video. I’ve always been critical of the power of keyword
domains, as most reputable companies are going to be trying to further
their brand using their brand name as the domain name. Good to hear that
this is going to become less of a ranking factor. Better if it wasn’t a
ranking factor at all, but then I’d have more difficulty selling some of my
domains :-0
This is a video I have or had on one of my blogs, I’m not sure now I’ve
deleted so much content. That is not the point… This is worth watching
because a domain name is such a key element of your business.
Matt gives some good advice so it is a few minutes well spent! After
watching I hope you agree with me. Please leave a comment.
To have or not to have …. a great easy-to-understand video on having
keywords in a domain name!
Its definitely definitely possible to succeed without keywords in your
domain name. Get more information through this Video by Google Guy, Matt
Cutts.
I completely agree with this analysis on Keyword Rich Domains Vs. Something
Brandable / Memorable..from a dude that works for the man and knows the
Matrix. There is no spoon!

Please do a video on biosystematics.
I really appreciate it. I have a test tomorrow on classification and this
video had really helped.
These are perfect for my mini lessons at the beginning of my period. Thanks!
That confused me a bit until your comment.
I’m studying for my exams, thank you so much for the help, I really enjoyed
the video and it has helped me a lot in understanding more about biology 😀
You saved my bio presentation!
have not realy lernt about domain but thanks for the leson
I am enjoying your lessons on biology – short and succinct, but useful.
This lesson has a huge error, however: Archaea (not Archaebacteria) are NOT
“primitive bacteria”. If you go by gene sequences and biochemistry, Archaea
are more closely related to humans than to bacteria. The only thing Archaea
and Bacteria share is a lack of a nucleus (or other membrane-bound
organelles).
