  1. My grandmother was married when she was 13 to a man in his 30s and had her
    first child at 14.

When I got married at 21 decades later, people told my mother I was too
    young!

  2. It wasn’t long ago when western culture found young marriages a normal
thing. Breakfast at Tiffany’s lead character for example was a woman from a
child marriage and that wasn’t a cultural taboo.

Let’s not think Western Culture so highly and shun others just because we
    don’t approve of cultural norms.

  3. Did that woman just say these countries are poor because of child
marriages??? Ignoring the exploitation that these countries suffered at the
    hands of European colonialism.

  4. I came here from upworthy and it’s sad that rather than this being the top
video it’s a feminist ranting about special pens that are marketed towards
girls in a sexist manner. This is disgusting but blaming it on Islam isn’t
saying anything, christians used to do this, these countrys are 3rd world
and are in a battle where there’s technology and education with tradition
    and relegion.

  5. Hate to say this… but if I had a beautiful sweet young daughter of 14 or
so and some MAN wanted to marry her, I might feel compelled to see him
beaten MERCILESSLY till he arose no more. And, if I had an older son who
wanted to marry a 14 year old child, I might likely have to clonk him a
GOOD one and berate him till kingdom come. He would NOT marry the child if
I were moving and alive. BUT, all my talk is likely due to the fact that
I’ve been afforded the luxury of an education and resources to survive well
    in comparison.

  6. I think these countries need bloody revolution and foreign intervention and
destruction of their indigenious culture and installation of western
supported puppet government that is controlled by multinational
    corporations.

  7. +Allen Carbon Its not about thinking highly of Western Culture. That
couldn’t be further from what the point of this is. This is about
committing one person to another person, often for a lifetime, when they
are at an age in which they can neither determine what they want for their
lives or determine what they want in a person to share their life. Because
it works sometimes is irrelevant. That’s like saying: I can hit a ball
traveling 70mph. Some major leaguers throw 70mph. Therefore I can be a
major league baseball player. Fractional success is not success.

  8. The question is: why a religion or a cultural norm allows suffering as
normal thing, and how does it help humanity? if it´s not helping humanity,
then it´s naturally destined to dissapear.

  9. This is Islam, now. Christianity and Judaism used to be this way, but sadly
Islam still lives in the stone ages.

  10. The most important thing was said by the pretty young woman at about 6:40that the girls need to have the right to decide. That is the main thing, It
is the pressure from parents and community that is bad. Young marriage is
not really such a bad thing especially in a country where there is no food
if they love the man they marry. The question is whether or not they found
the man they want to marry and love. The same problem is with the genital
mutilation. Nobody should be forcing young people. Parents and old rich
men and clergy and such should not be the ones to choose for a young girl
    or put pressure young girls.

  11. This is one hell of a can of worms that could lead to the destabilization
of the Muslim Nations and the many other Nations that accept this practice.
The fight against this by US policies and UN force will cause millions of
horrible deaths and probably civil wars around the world. I don’t approve
of the practice, however I believe the world should be patient and wait
until education and social change make their way through the world and
change the situation by default and not by force! Religions and War are
associated and inseparable…. I believe it is time we let things just
come and stop forcing them upon other Nations…. We MUST learn to mind our
own business and let other Nations Mind theirs… It’s NOT our
responsibility! They are the ones who must bring about changes in their own
houses… NOT BIG BROTHER AGAIN! Stop spending our resources on WAR and
BEGIN helping the Population AT HOME! We have our own to tend to and we are
    BROKE already!
