  1. Wordonfire did not assert that sexual technique is the only unique aspect
of marriage that a priest couldn’t address from the standpoint of first
hand knowledge, Jefferson. His rhetorical question does suggest that there
are aspects of marriage that a priest is qualified to address. (And indeed
    there are.)

  2. Advice on my vow to say no to every woman save one from a person who has
taken a vow to say no to every woman save none? I’d say we share something
in common about which a priest has keen insight. And as a leader of my
family’s “domestic church,” I think a priest has words of advice to offer
to me in that area, too.

  3. no one denies that some priests have abused children. thats not what we
were discussing; or we’d point out how many parents, teachers and coaches
have as well- red herrings wont help you here. i pointed out that you
listed two very strongly biased sources as your references….feel free to
    try again with something credible.

  4. By turning away from GOD society, relationships and human nature has and
will continue to decay. I am not a person who supports religious
institutions but I can see the greatness of having Jesus as my example.
Still I have a narrow path to follow. Those who turn away from GOD will
    hate the truth.

  5. Shift key not working? We’re writing in English, not Arabic, and use
capital letters. Margaret Shyer wrote a well research play. Check her
bibliography. BTW, does your Bible have any secular evidence to verify its
authenticity? If so, then why isn’t everyone a Christian? What is highly
biased? Is the BBC’s news report “The Same of the Catholic Church” about
pedophile priests in Ireland and the RCC hierarchy covering up the abuse
highly biased? Are the victims of clerical abuse liars?

  6. We looked at this post to try and understand why some Catholics seem to
view marriage that’s different from our view and most of friends – it is
clear you see marriage as inclusive commitment which includes an entity
(God) why we see it very much as an exclusive spiritual commitment to each
other – thanks for helping us understand your perspective

  7. 1. you realize margaret shryer wrote a play, not a historical work on
katharina von bora? that’s hardly a credible historical work friend…lol..
    2. regarding the clio project, it is highly biased. good historical work
stays free from as much bias as possible. the clio project, and shryer
cannot claim to be bias free…as you know. 3. you’ve proved my point in
your zeal to defend your religion… 4. ad hominems? lol cite something
    credible, or stop trolling

  8. We have never felt the need to justify and defer our actions to any entity
    – it often puzzles us why people feel the need to adopt what is invariably
someone else s concept of a “God” – we try to respect peoples choices but
you make it challenging when you make sweeping allegations about our
relationships and honesty simply because don’t subscribe to your God – the
30 points of the UN charter on human rights has more relevance to us than
    the Koran, Bible or Tora

  9. Any person with eyes can see the troubles and conflicts in relationships,
even in society. Open your eyes and come to understand the true love that
has been given as an example to us. Jesus. I did and now I know the
greatness of love rather than the dark emptiness of apathy and solitude.

  10. Fr. Baron realizes a discussion bearing upon my” relation” to you and why
it has become tenuous and superficial. Baron used the notion of a
“transcendent 3rd”. During much time we coincided in the nature, meaning
and normativization of this “3rd”. I find that your transcending in life
has turned from what I hold to be “good” and now follows “EVIL”. Fr. Baron
is right in that the absence of the “3rd” stultifies and relativzes a
“relation”, viz., fiendship. Friendship is a relation of the people caring
for eachother in which that friendship receives transcendency in a common
good. Evil breaks down trancendeny. Enjoy Fr. Baron’s ideas. Perhaps you
will find something interesting in them. b

  11. Thank you, Father. And also let me thank you for all the help you’ve been
for me. I’m a recent convert (received into the Church on Jan 1st 2012) and
you’re videos, writing, preaching, etc. has been of huge help. God Bless.

  12. Like many Catholic women throughout history, Katherina von Bora was forced
to become a nun and had no religious commitment. If Martin Luther hadn’t
broken the RCC’s stranglehold on Western Europe in the 16th Century, then
no doubt someone else would have. The Catholic Church was a corrupt house
of cards that even a gentle breeze could topple. We need a new Martin
Luther today to lead mankind from the darkness of religion and bring it to
    the light of atheism!

  13. Thank you for this video Father B. I plan on showing it to my sister who
says that a “Civil” marriage is no different than a “Religious” one.. I
told her there’s a huge difference. But I’ll just show her this video. I
believe she will be much more receptive to what you have to say. God Bless!
    !

  14. Hi Father, what does it mean in the bible when it says that a woman must
submit to her husband in all things? I have asked other catholics this and
there answers are vague and something like ‘oh it just means she must love
him or must not nag or let him have the final word or she should remain
silent’ But what does it really mean and why is there a need for someone to
lead when they both work together? If possible could you give specific
examples of when a woman ought to submit?

  15. You are so gifted in teaching us Our Divinity Fr. Barron..Listening to you

ministry for married couples in this is indeed the framework with which we
want to work .GOD bless you

  18. Define “dating”, please. Thanks.
Next, we need to define “love” and “marriage”, because today the ruling
world has turned unisexist and Muslims has to this day toed the line of the
    powerful!

“Halaal girl friend and halaal boy friend”? What the heck?

The unpleasant truth is that I have known too many women (Muslim or
reverted) to not entering into marriage in order to stay married but are
motivated by other considerations, one of which is money or pure
    selfishness.

I have three very young grand daughters and three grand nephews and they
have been pushed out of one “Islamic” preparatory school by the Muslim
    MISLEADERS and FANATICS!
