Diego, as someone who grew up speaking both languages I still find what you
said on national tv a little bit offensive. You cannot alarm people by
saying that the country will all speak Spanish at some given point. The
reality is Spanish isn’t going anywhere obviously considering that all the
rest of the countries in the Americas speak Spanish but to say that it will
take over the US it’s ridiculous, it would have taken over Brazil years ago
yet, they’re still speaking Portuguese. I think what you said is rude and
it can be alarming for those people that are already confused or sensitive
to that topic.
lol, I can’t believe there’s people making such a big deal over this. Yes,
this is Mexican slang, not formal Spanish. That’s what makes this whole
conversation funny. No slang makes sense, so it’s funny to try to translate
those expressions and make them understandable when the literal meaning of
the words make no sense even for the people who speak it. I’m not Mexican,
I speak Spanish, and in my country we have our own slang; and it doesn’t
make sense either, just as American or English slang makes no sense to us
if we try to ‘analyze it’.
