  1. I’m a 36 year old female and I also suffer from DSPS. I have 2 kids that
have to get up in the morning for school which makes DSPS even worse!!
Yeah, people that don’t have this just believe that we want to stay up all
night. My mom told me recently that I’m “not missing out on anything at
night”, and that I am destroying my family life. Wow, I’d rather sleep when
normal people do but that’s not going to happen. I just graduated with my
RN degree so I’m sure I’ll be able to work an overnight shift. I figure
that’s the only way that people won’t have anything to say about it!!

  2. Look on the bright side, at least you can deal with time changes ! Actually
probably not since your biological clock sets on the sun.

  3. I have a hard time sleeping. like I love to sleep!!! But I can’t seem to
sleep until late in the mornings like 3-5 am and I’m 18. And idk I feel
like my brain is uber hyper and I just keep thinking about stuff or
something… Bc my body gets really tired and wants to sleep but my brain
doesn’t and just wants to stay up for as long as possible. Idk if I have a
sleeping disorder but it sure is weird and kinda sucks sometimes.

  4. dude, i am 16 years old and ive got dsps and school is terrible. i dont
know if i am able to get through it. its just horrible living with that
    “illness” or syndrome..

  5. @clmccoy726 To be fair, I think every mom does this. And most kids go
through a period of difficult sleeping, as I’m sure you know. The question
is whether or not it’s a sleeping disorder, or just a phase. You can’t
really tell without seeing a specialist unless it persists into adulthood,
like it did with Jess and me.

  6. only this time it lasted about an hour and a half. I’m in the process of
looking for a job, and I’m going to aim for the night shift at a 24 hour
convenience store just because it will give me an excuse that will satisfy
my father that I HAVE to sleep during the day. This summer, I functioned
well on 6am-2pm sleep, but he forced me out of it. This week, I’ve shifted
around a bit, but before I started ‘normalizing’ again I think I was
sleeping 8am-5pm. I tend to sleep more when I’m not settled.

  7. yea dude i work from 9 to 4 and i don’t get any sleep i went to a sleep
specialists and they said i just could’t sleep and i’ll get over it but i
still have a horrible sleeping i know how you feel. going to sleep and
staying asleep are the worst part of my day.

  8. i have a fucking laundry list of shit. but since i was 11 or so, i’ve had a
sleeping pattern of about 6-7 am to about 2 or 3 pm, sometimes 4. fucking
sucks. i go to work at 10 am after going to sleep at 5 or so, and my mom
and managers chew my fucking ass out for staying awake all night. i just
tell them ‘okay, if you go to sleep at about 11 pm, imagine i go into your
room, and set an alarm for 2 or 3 am. and just leave it. and you wake up.
welcome to my sleeping pattern’. they’re floored

  9. once I’ve woken up. I sleep a perfectly normal eightish hour schedule if
I’m allowed to go to sleep when I naturally become tired, but lately I’ve
been trying to normalize myself (waking up earlier doesn’t work so I had to
stretch my days and stay up even more than was comfortable) and it ended
with me falling asleep at 6pm and sleeping eighteen hours last night. I
woke up absolutely miserable this morning, and no longer had proper control
over my fingers – as is normal for me after sleeping,

  10. also, my cousin has hypersomnia. you can imagine the load of shit she went
through. she slept from about 10 pm to 6 am, got on the bus, fell asleep,
slept through all of her classes, got on the bus, fell asleep, went home,
was coherent for an hour maybe, fell asleep and woke up at 6 for 4 hours.
she goes through so much shit for that.

  11. @heatoff831 They thought I was undisciplined and just put me to bed. I grew
up thinking that everyone had this much trouble sleeping, or just that I
have an overactive brain. When I got older I started to think maybe I had a
disorder, so they took me to a specialist that confirmed my suspicions.
Years later, my mom seems to have forgotten that we visited the doctor
because she’s reverted to thinking that it’s a problem I could deal with if
    I really wanted to.

  12. This is not really a disorder, but i find myself unable to sleep if the
current time is more than an our off from the time i fell asleep the day
before. New year’s eve really f…..d up my daily rythm.

  13. I have the same thing I usually go to bed around 1 and sleep till whenever
here it is 06:27 and I haven’t slept yet
